Back in 2017, U.S. Ski & Snowboard introduced what was deemed “Project 26”—the organization’s renewed focus and commitment to alpine development as a result of findings from a comprehensive, in-depth analysis conducted.
U.S. Ski & Snowboard today announced the organization’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Action Plan.
Position Summary
The Central Division Alpine Manager will lead the operation of the Central Division using a strong athletic philosophy and methods.
The regions and division have several functions but are primary to:
Acting as a collective governance organization for a group of divisions and/or states in common cause issues
Calendaring and supporting international FIS ski racing below the level of the national championships and continental cups
Conducting various regional championships for different age groups
Management of athletic teams of USSA member athletes from those regions to national championships and FIS continental cups

In early March, U.S. Ski & Snowboard President and CEO Tiger Shaw, Alpine Director Jesse Hunt, and Alpine Development Director Chip Knight hosted a video conference call with the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA) and Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association (RMISA) college coaches to further discuss initiatives that are being taken to build bridges between the U.S. Ski Team, U.S. Ski & Snowboard, and collegiate ski racing programs.
PARK CITY, UT (July 18, 2016) – The U.S. Ski Team has announced that Mike Day, current head men’s coach at Green Mountain Valley School (GMVS), will make a return to the U.S. Ski Team to serve as women’s head coach, working specifically with Olympic champion Mikaela Shiffrin.
A coach in various capacities for more than 15 years, Day previously coached Ted Ligety (Park City, UT), who became a world champion and won two World Cup giant slalom titles during Day’s tenure with the men’s technical team from 2010 to 2013.
