Criteria

What does it take make the team and compete at the Olympics, World Championships, or World Cup level?

Advancement through the U.S. Ski & Snowboard's Athlete development pipeline is based on tangible, objective selection criteria. At each level, from grassroots club-level events to the Olympics, athletes advance based on athletic performance in events, as well as on ranking or points lists.

Selection criteria may be different for events, teams or projects. Athletes, coaches, and parents should read the criteria carefully to learn exactly how athletes will be selected. In some cases, it may be results-based from specific events. In other cases, it may be an athlete's ranking in U.S. Ski & Snowboard, USASA, or International Ski Federation (FIS) points or ranking list.

Most athletes are selected by specific objective criteria, but there may also be discretionary selection if noted in the criteria. Select the sport discipline below to view criteria.
