SEATTLE, WA (Apr. 14) – In a night filled with emotion and fond memories, eight legends of skiing were inducted into the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall Fame Saturday as over 600 attended a ceremony in Seattle. Olympic and World Championship medalists Joe Pack and Eva Twardokens headlined eight skiing luminaries who joined the Hall of Fame’s Honor Roll for 2011. Also honored was ski area pioneer, the late Nick Badami, who played a pivotal role with the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association and the Salt Lake City Olympic Winter Games.

Towering at 6’4”, not only is Steven Nyman (Sundance, UT) a physical specimen and American Downhiller beast, but he also happens to be one of the kindest, most genuine souls on the Audi FIS Ski World Cup tour. A gentle giant, if you will. The three-time World Cup winner – the Val Gardena master – and three-time Olympian is no stranger to success on the mountain, though Nyman knows success off the mountain is just as – if not more – important.

SQUAW VALLEY, CA (March 21) - Tim Jitloff (Reno, NV) brought a crowd of thousands to a roaring crescendo Friday with another masterful performance in Squaw Valley to win his second consecutive Nature Valley U.S. Alpine Championships giant slalom title. The Olympian, who grew up nearby and raced as a young athlete at the 1960 Olympic resort, captured his second victory in three days at Squaw with a 1.61 margin of victory over Brennan Rubie (Salt Lake City).

ASPEN, CO (Nov. 22) – It's been a month since Olympic downhill – yes downhill – champion Lindsey Vonn (Vail, CO) arced the first Audi FIS Alpine World Cup giant slalom victory of her career. It's like skiing in a high altitude blender

SQUAW VALLEY, CA (March 21) - Olympic gold medalist Julia Mancuso (Squaw Valley, CA) took full advantage of home snow to win the Nature Valley U.S. Alpine Championships giant slalom for a record 16th U.S. title. The Olympic gold medalist from Squaw Valley finished .88 in front of a red-hot Mikaela Shiffrin (Eagle-Vail, CO), 18, who had just locked the Audi FIS Alpine World Cup slalom title in Switzerland.

PARK CITY, UT (June 8, 2017) – Olympic skier John Bower, the first American to win the prestigious nordic combined King's Cup, as well as a formative coach and leader of the U.S. Nordic Ski Team, passed away June 6 in Park City. Bower, who was 76, played a pivotal role in the development of the Utah Olympic Park and establishment of its Olympic legacy facilities.

PARK CITY, UT (Jan. 28) – As a part of its initiative to increase educational opportunities for elite athletes, the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) and Westminster College have announced an extension to a partnership that has provided college education to over 100 national team athletes since 2005. A total of 23 student athletes – nearly a fourth of those nominated by the USSA for the 2014 Olympics – have attended Westminster in Salt Lake City while training at the USSA’s Center of Excellence in nearby Park City.
