WATERVILLE VALLEY, N.H. (June 29, 2017) - Olympian Tom Corcoran, an early U.S. Ski Team pioneer and founder of the New Hampshire's Waterville Valley ski resort, passed away Tuesday (June 27) at his home in Seabrook Island, S.C. at the age of 85. Corcoran was one of the most decorated skiers of his era, moving on to become a pioneer in the ski industry and a longtime U.S. Ski & Snowboard leader. He was inducted into the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame in 1978.

Thirteen freeskiers and eight snowboarders are ready to represent the U.S. at the FIS World Cup slopestyle competition in Seiser Alm, Italy Jan. 24-27. This is the third time that Seiser Alm Snowpark has hosted a World Cup snowboard and freeski event.

“I look forward to coming to Seiser Alm every year,” said Lyon Farrell (Haiku, Hawaii). “The park is absolutely epic, and the people are too. I am so excited to be headed back to compete!”

Crashes took their toll during stage five of the Tour de Ski in Oberstdorf Thursday, a day after mother nature threw her wrath over the region with a massive lightning storm that canceled the classic sprint. In the women’s 10k freestyle mass start, Jessie Diggins (Afton, Minn.) and Sadie Bjornsen (Winthrop, Wash.) both skied at the head of the pack early in the race before each of them lost ground in crashes. 

Norway's Ingvild Flugstad Østberg extended her Tour de Ski lead. Norway's Imil Iversen won the men's 15k with Tour leader Dario Cologna of Switzerland fourth.

VAL D’ISERE, France (Dec. 19, 2014) – So far this season, the ladies’ speed team has been in the business of making history, with a podium sweep in Lake Louise. And the entire team is riding that wave of excitement going into this weekend’s race in Val d’Isere.

Without a doubt, head speed coach Stefan Abplanalp’s motivating spirit has been a contributing factor to the ladies’ success this year. At the team meeting, he simply stated, “Downhill day is our day. You guys were heroes in Lake Louise.”

U.S. Ski & Snowboard announces today that Kristen Bourne will join the U.S. Cross Country Ski Team staff as D-Team coach.

Bourne, who has worked with the team on several projects as a ski technician and coach, replaces Kate Johnson, who coached the D-Team for the past two seasons.
