Wallisch Wins Second Straight Slopestyle Podium at Dew Tour Killington

KILLINGTON, VT (Jan. 21) – Tom Wallisch's (Pittsburgh, PA) smooth moves and huge tricks, including a left double 1080 mute grab, scored him another victory at Dew Tour Killington following his win at Dew Tour Breckenridge. Canadian Kaya Turkski was in a league of her own with her performance on the rails and took the women's slopestyle victory over U.S. Freeskiing's Devin Logan (W. Dover, VT) on a beautiful sunny day in Killington.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Dew Tour is a multi-sport three-stop tour with over $1.5 million up for grabs based on individual and year end standings.
  • It was a silver weekend for U.S. Freeskiing's local girl Devin Logan who came in second in the women's slopestyle. Emilia Wint (Breckenridge, CO) took the third spot.
  • Bobby Brown (Breckenridge, CO) was hot on the heels of teammate Tom Wallisch ending up in second. Brown had a textbook run and nailed his grabs in some of the hardest tricks in skiing. Nick Goepper (Lawrenceburg, IN) stepped into the elite club of skiers doing double cork 1260's both directions and was awarded with third.
  • Wallisch's winning run jumps left double cork 1260 high mute grab, switch left double flat 1080 Japan grab, and mirrored it to the right with a switch double flat 1080 Japan grab.
  • Today's events took place on the International Ski Federation's World Snow Day, encouraging everyone to go out and take some turns.
  • At Dew Tour Kilington, athletes from all over the U.S. have claimed 13 out of 15 possible medals.
  • The Dew Tour's third and final stop takes place February 9 - 12, 2012 at Snowbasin, UT.
  • This week it's on to Aspen for the X Games

I was just trying to convince myself that I’m a second-run skier. So far every major contest win I’ve had has been second run. Even Euro X Games two season’s ago, we had three runs, but my brain just likes to do a good second run. So I was just trying to convince myself that was how it was going to go, get a good mindset, just picture myself at the bottom and just let my body do the work.

It was a big day for the team. Super stoked for all the guys and girls. Wallisch had another victory even with his second run under pressure. Sammy Carlson, Bobby Brown and Nick Goepper all skied great. We are looking forward to next week, this event was really just a warm up for next week. They really dropped the hammer!
