Telluride Welcomes SBX Team
TELLURIDE, CO (Dec. 17) – Two-time Olympic champion Seth Wescott (Sugarloaf, ME) headlines a standout U.S. Snowboarding SBX (snowboardcross) Team that was showcased to the public Saturday during the USANA Snowboardcross Cup in Telluride. The Team is rich in talent including X Games champion Nick Baumgartner (Iron River, MI), Six-time X Games champ Nate Holland (Squaw Valley, CA) and seven-time X Games gold medalist Lindsey Jacobellis (Stratton Mountain, VT).
The team was featured in a public celebration at the Heritage Mountain Plaza following the LG FIS Snowboard World Cup in Telluride. It's the third straight year Telluride has hosted the Team for its final pre-season training camp and World Cup.
"Our team continues to show great depth, especially on the men's side," said U.S. Snowboarding and U.S. Freeskiing Director Jeremy Forster. "It's a team with amazing experience in winning the biggest events in our sport including the X Games and Olympics."
The team kicked off its World Cup season at Telluride with both an individual and a team event. Jacobellis picked up the first U.S. Snowboarding win at Telluride on Friday with Baumgartner third. Baumgartner teamed with U.S. champion Jonathan Cheever to take a close second in the Paul Mitchell Progression Session SBX team event Saturday with Jacobellis and Callan Chythlook-Sifsof third.
The team will compete throughout the season on the LG FIS Snowboard World Cup and will headline the Sprint U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix Feb. 9-12 at Canyons Resort in Park City, UT. They will also compete at X Games in Aspen CO Jan. 27-29.
Snowboardcross will make its third showing at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games, where longtime partner Burton will be the official uniform provider.
