Heavy Snow Buries Courchevel Slalom

COURCHEVEL, France (Dec. 17) - A thick blanket of over three feet of snow forced organizers to postpone the women's Audi FIS Alpine World Cup slalom scheduled for Saturday in Courchevel. The race, originally slated as a giant slalom, was swapped to slalom when the forecast called for heavy snow. The slalom is now reset for Sunday with a 9:30 a.m. local start time for the first run and 12:30 p.m. for the second run. Slated to start for the U.S. Ski Team are Lindsey Vonn (Vail, CO), who will be going for her fifth straight win, Julia Mancuso (Squaw Valley, CA), Sarah Schleper (Vail, CO), Mikaela Shiffrin (Eagle-Vail, CO) and Resi Stiegler (Jackson Hole, WY). The giant slalom has been canceled.
