Cousino, Voight Take Wins in PMPS

COPPER MOUNTAIN, CO (Dec. 10) – It was all about style and ease under the lights as Yale Cousino (Lincoln, VT) and Brooke Voight (Fort McMurray, CAN) took the men’s and women’s wins during the Paul Mitchell Progression Session event, capping off the Sprint U.S. Grand Prix at Copper Mountain Saturday night.

"I feel awesome," Cousino said. "I haven't done that well in some rail jams lately, but to come away with the win is just awesome. It was a little intimidating at first, but practice started and we all had a lot of energy. The crowd was awesome. The lights are the best lights at a night event I've ever seen! The setup was probably one of the best rail setups I've ever hit, so it was right up there."

Cousino was followed in second by Eric Beauchemin (Grand Blanc, MI) and Johan Owen (Eugene, OR) finished third for the men.

On the women’s side, Voight also found inspiration in the Copper crowd under the lights.

"We had practice yesterday and I found myself riding a little stronger but I was still pretty stoked on today," said Voight. "I got my 50 board slide to 70 out and I was stoked to get that. The crowd is awesome. They are all troopers for being out here!"

Voight led the way with Cheryl Maas (Uden, Holland) behind in second and U.S. Snowboarding's Ty Walker (Stowe, VT) in third.

Along with the honor of winning the season’s first Paul Mitchell Progression Session, the victors received the gift of good hair in the form of the ever coveted Paul Mitchell tin full of hair-care product.

The event brings to a close Sprint U.S. Grand Prix weekend at Copper Mountain. Next up for the series is a stop in Park City, UT Feb. 9-12, which will feature both snowboardcross and skicross.
