Copper Speed Center Close to Open

By U.S. Ski & Snowboard
October, 20 2012

COPPER MOUNTAIN, CO (Oct. 20) - The Copper Mountain Resort snow making team is working around the clock for the anticipated early November open of the U.S. Ski Team Speed Center - the only full-length downhill training facility open anywhere in the world at this time of year. After firing up the HKD guns on Oct. 2, Copper's mountain operations crew and Mother Nature has picked up the pace to prep the slope for training by Olympic gold medalists Ted Ligety (Park City, UT), Julia Mancuso (Squaw Valley, CA), Lindsey Vonn (Vail, CO) and Bode Miller (Franconia, NH), along with national U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) club programs. Now in its second year of operation, the world-class training venue helped propel Miller, Vonn and Ligety to Audi FIS Alpine World Cup victories all before early December last winter.  Copper Mountain pass holders can sign up to win a freeski session with the team on the U.S. Ski Team Speed Center opening day by going to usskiteam.com/facebook.
