BIO
Rebecca Johnston spent most of her life as a competitive volleyball player and even committed to play at the collegiate level. During her freshman year, she was diagnosed with osteosarcoma and chose to amputate her leg in order to have another chance at being competitive in sports again. Following her amputation in May 2020, she started snowboarding as soon as there was snow on the ground. In 2021 she started training with Team Utah Snowboarding and joined the Continental Cup for the 2022-23 season, and her success there led to her being named to the US team for the 2023 World Championships in La Molina. Although World Championships were her first World Cup level races, she took bronze in the team dual banked slalom with Brenna Huckaby and impressive 4th places in snowboardcross and dual banked slalom. Her goal for her second season is to achieve a top-three rank in the World Cup Women’s LL1 classification.
When she isn’t on the slopes, Rebecca can be found outdoors doing some of her favorite activities of paddleboarding, hiking, or biking
