USSA Center of Excellence

The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association’s national training and education facility, the Center of Excellence, is the training base for best in the world athletes! And it’s also the home of the USSA TEAM Academy, offering a Total Educational and Athletic Model (TEAM) to high school-aged elite student athletes. Based at the USSA’s Center of Excellence in Park City, Utah, the school utilizes a blended model of live teaching and virtual learning to provide an educational solution integrating directly into their athletic program.

The Center of Excellence, which opened in 2009, is a state-of-the-art facility designed to serve today's athletes with world-class training and to strengthen the development of tomorrow's Olympic skiers and snowboarders. It was designed to replicate the style and feel of a college campus, inspiring athletes to a higher level of athletic excellence and to bring the sport together as a Team. Now, with the introduction of the USSA TEAM Academy, elite student athletes on the USSA’s national teams can participate in an accredited high school education program specifically designed to integrate with their high level athletic training.

The 85,000-square foot Center of Excellence was built on five acres. It blends the best of high-performance athletic facilities including strength-training areas, a gymnasium, ski and snowboarding ramps, trampolines, a nutrition center and recovery/rehabilitation facilities. Plus, it features educational areas for athletes, coaches and clubs such as a computer lab, multimedia rooms for performance analysis and equipment workshops, as well as a full sport science lab.

The USSA TEAM Academy provides its national team student athletes with a best in the world athletic program through the USSA’s national team high performance staff. It’s now pairing an educational program from DeVry’s Advanced Academics to providing a blend of traditional classroom education combined with technology-based learning while on the road.
