Snowboard Officials & Judges

Snowboard Officials & Judges

Snowboard officials and judges ensure that U.S. Ski & Snowboard competitions run efficiently and fairly by the rules. They are responsible for the safe conduct of the event and the accurate timing, judging, and scoring. They also play a key role in ensuring that the spirit of the sport and competition is maintained.

Judges Education

U.S. Ski & Snowboard and USASA both work with The International Judges Commission (IJC) to educate judges across the country. The IJC was formed to bring a high degree of professionalism and structure to freestyle snowboarding.  Through the establishment of a global educational forum, the IJC set forth the primary goal of training judges worldwide, through a unique and comprehensive training program, and protecting the interests of freestyle riders, through fair and accurate judging and progressive contest formats.

If you are just getting started in judging, check out the regional USASA Judges Clinics in the Resources Section.

Technical Delegate (TD) Education

USASA offers regional level Technical Supervisor (TS) clinics across the country.

U.S. Ski & Snowboard works directly with FIS to certify officials. To become a FIS Technical Delegate (TD), officials need to contact the FIS Coordinator Ted Martin.
