"My parents were full time coaches when I was young. It was hard for them to carry me around and do their work, so they put me on skis before I could walk. It was easier for them to push me around that way."

- 1. River is a three-time Youth Olympic Games (YOG) gold medalist - the first to achieve this feat.
- 2. River is in the process of creating his own foundation to improve access and affordability to the sport of ski racing.
- 3. River's favorite track on the World Cup is Alta Badia. He says, "if you designed a GS hill in a lab, you couldn’t make one any better. The hill has all the variables you could ask for - from steeps to rolls, 180° trail turns and even a jump. It’s just perfect in every way."
- 4. He scored his first World Cup points in 2018 at Alta Badia, Italy, when he landed in 24th.
- 5. River won two Junior World Championship gold medals (super-G and giant slalom) and one silver medal (team event) in 2019, and was an integral part of the best men's alpine junior team in the world.
- 6. In the past he has donated his prize winnings from certain races to Protect Our Winters, a nonprofit dedicated to climate advocacy. “I think as an athlete and appreciator of the outdoors, it's important for me to work to preserve the natural wonder I get to enjoy, and make sure it's around to be enjoyed by future generations.”
- 7. A few things you may not know about him: he speaks English, Spanish, OK German. He also likes to spend his downtime surfing, mountain biking and traveling. He spends about a month a year in Central America surfing and decompressing. Favorite athlete? Nikola Jokić. Why? The best passing big man in NBA history. Always one step ahead of the game.
