USSA Names New Chief Financial Officer

PARK CITY, UT (Jan. 13, 2015) – The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association, the national governing body for Olympic skiing and snowboarding, has announced the appointment of Brooke McAffee as vice president and chief financial officer, according to USSA President and CEO Tiger Shaw. McAffee comes to the Olympic sports organization after spending nearly a decade with the Sundance Institute, most recently as its CFO.

 

She will be responsible for financial planning and management for the Park City-based USSA. 

 

McAffee has worked for the non-profit Sundance Institute since 2005 where she served as the director of finance before moving into the chief financial officer role. During her time at Sundance, Brooke led the organization’s finance department while managing a budget that increased from $15-million to $35-million. She also had a leadership role in strategic planning, legal, and merchandise operations for Sundance. Prior to 2005, she worked for Arthur Anderson, LLC and Neilson Elggren, LLC where her specialties were public, forensic, and investigatory accounting.

 

A native of southern California, McAffee is a lifelong skier and athlete. She played division one soccer at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and has completed two Leadville 100 mountain bike races. In addition to her own athletic endeavors, she has provided support to her sister, Amber Neben, a two-time Olympian and world champion road cyclist. She and her husband Clint have been Park City residents for 17 years.

 

She will begin her new role February 1, working closely in transition with longtime CFO Mark Lampe. A former U.S. Freestyle Ski Team member, Lampe joined the USSA in 1994. He is credited with helping to build significant long-term financial stability for the organization, during a period where it grew from a $9-million to over $40-million annual gross revenue company. Lampe is retiring from the USSA and will continue to pursue his private real estate ventures in Park City.

 

Brooke’s background with a non-profit that is very public facing will be instrumental for us at the USSA. She brings a passion for our sport and a wealth of energy and new ideas.

 

One of our greatest assets over the years in our athletic success has been our financial stability. During his 21-year tenure, Mark Lampe has been instrumental in providing that stability and helping us to develop such impactful programs and facilities like the USSA Center of Excellence.

 

I’ve long admired the USSA with its Best in the World vision and the hard work of the athletes. I feel my experience in being a part of the growth of a very publicly seen non-profit like Sundance Institute will translate well to the USSA. I look forward to advancing our vision through strong and innovative fiscal management that helps our organization provide even more support to athletes.
