Countdown to the 2022 Olympic Winter Games
Marolt Athlete Endowment

Marolt Athlete Endowment

Launched in 2017, the Marolt Athlete Endowment is a $50 million fundraising campaign to support our athletes’ greatest needs on and off the slopes. U.S. Ski & Snowboard is dedicated to building four endowed funds in three specific areas – Athletic Services, Career & Life Skills Services, and Education Services -  as a key component of our commitment to whole athlete development. We believe that our athletes’ future contributions in professional roles are just as important as their current contributions standing on podiums.

Bob Beattie Athlete Travel Fund
Bob Beattie

Bob Beattie was an icon of the sport of alpine ski racing and one of its most passionate pioneers. He was a driving force for ski racing his entire life, counted among the sport’s leaders who built alpine ski racing into one of the pillar events at the Olympic Winter Games. He was the founding coach of the U.S. Ski Team and one of the creators of the Alpine Ski World Cup.

Bob felt deeply that all U.S. Ski & Snowboard Team athletes should have their expenses covered, especially their travel costs, and was relentless in his championing of this cause. The Bob Beattie Athlete Travel Fund is an effort to establish an endowed fund to support travel expenses for all A, B, and C Team athletes, and is named in honor of him and his tremendous efforts on behalf of the athletes.

For more information about the Bob Beattie Athlete Travel Fund and how you can support our athletes’ greatest needs, please contact Victoria Brown.

Steven & Mary Ann Read Career & Life Skills Fund

The Steven & Mary Ann Read Career & Life Skills Fund, named for the fund’s principal investors, supports current and alumni athletes as they transition from their sports careers to professional careers. The fund is providing our athletes with access to resources such as guidance and expertise through career seminars and life skills workshops, résumé building, financial education, networking and mentoring opportunities, internship and employment support, and more, in perpetuity.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, U.S. Ski & Snowboard is thrilled to announce that we have reached our $5 million endowment goal for this fund. Please watch the video below for a special thank you from a few of our athletes whose lives have been impacted by this support.

Borgen Swartz Education Fund

The Borgen Swartz Education Fund, named for the fund’s principal investors Erik Borgen and Jim Swartz, supports tuition reimbursement for our current and alumni athletes who are pursuing their college degrees. Our athletes can apply for up to $6,000 in reimbursements annually, making it easier for them to receive their education by reducing their financial burden.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, U.S. Ski & Snowboard is thrilled to announce that we have reached our $5 million endowment goal for this fund. Together with the initial investment provided by Erik Borgen and Jim Swartz, our total endowment for athlete tuition support is now $8 million.

This permanent fund will have a lasting impact on the lives of our athletes for generations to come.

Elite Coaching Fund

The Elite Coaching Fund supports competitive salaries and continuing education for our coaches. In order to be the Best in the World, our athletes need to have the very best coaching available. Coaches make an enormous commitment to the team, traveling approximately nine months out of the year with the athletes. We are dedicated to providing them with the resources they need to succeed.
