2024 Project Gold Progression Sessions

This year we are excited to be hosting Project Gold Progression Sessions at Copper Mountain and Steamboat Resort.
Progression Sessions are a new evolution to our past Project Gold camps. With this new approach we are looking to lower the cost to athletes and open the door to athletes that may not be in the competitive pipeline yet but are motivated to learn the skills to compete at the highest level of the sports. In the past the US Team and selected Club coaches had provided direct coaching to the athlete groups, at Progression Sessions we are strongly recommending that athletes attend with their coaches, as there will be an emphasis on knowledge sharing between the US Team coaches and club coaches who attend. US Team coaches will not be as "hands on" in group management as in the past but will be there to give tips to both athletes and coaches on progressions, tactics, and techniques.
There is no results based criteria to attend this Progression Session. Any US Freeski development athletes who fits the following description below for their discipline is welcome to attend:

 

Slopestyle

April 12, 13, 14 at Copper Mountain, Colorado

  •     US citizen
  •     Between the ages of 13 -18
  •     Can comfortably hit the medium to large jumps in Copper's park and spin all directions. Women should be able to spin or working on 360s and 540s in all directions.  Men should be able to spin or working on 900s and 1080s in all directions. 
  •    Has a coach or parent chaperone that can attend with them. 


Athletes and coaches will spend the days on hill using the Copper Mountain terrain parks. The goal of this progression session is to develop your skills as an athlete or coach by learning from each other and the US Team Staff. We will meet the athletes on hill training from 10:00 - 2:00 on April 12th, 13th, and 14th.  Coach education roundtables for will be hosted from 5:00 - 6:30 on the 12th and 13th.

Athletes are should plan to attend with their coaches or parents. Lodging and chaperones will not be provided by U.S. Ski & Snowboard. 
Registration fee is $100 for athletes and $50 for coaches to reserve your spot. This registration fee does not include lift tickets. Athletes will need to have a qualifying pass or purchase daily lift tickets to attend. Lift tickets can be purchased through Copper Mountain. 

Registration is Limited and is First Come, First Served.

Halfpipe

April 26, 27, 28 at Steamboat Resort, Colorado

  •     US citizen
  •     Between the ages of 13 -18
  •     Can comfortably ride and air out of a 22' halfpipe and is spinning in all directions. 
  •     Has a coach or parent chaperone that can attend with them. 

Athletes and coaches will spend the days on hill using the Steamboat Resort halfpipe The goal of this progression session is to develop your skills as an athlete or coach by learning from each other and the US Team Staff. We will meet the athletes on hill training from 9:30 - 2:30 on April 26th, 27th, and 28th.  Coach education roundtables for will be hosted from 3:30 - 5:00 on the 26th and 27th. 

Athletes are should plan to attend with their coaches or parents. Lodging and chaperones will not be provided by U.S. Ski & Snowboard. 
Registration fee is $100 for athletes and $50 for coaches to reserve your spot. This registration fee does not include venue access passes. Athletes will need to purchase daily venue access passes to attend. Venue access passes are $65/day and can be purchased through Steamboat Resort (link not yet available). 

Registration is Limited and is First Come, First Served.
