Shaman Skis Named Official Supplier for U.S. Freestyle Ski Team

By U.S. Ski & Snowboard
December, 7 2016

BALTIMORE, MD (Dec. 7, 2016) – The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) announced today that Shaman Skis of Finland will expand into the U.S. market as an official U.S. Freestyle Ski Team supplier. Shaman will be an official supplier for the team through 2020, including the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang.

Shaman was founded by Olympic bronze medalist and mogul skier Sami Mustonen and is currently the only mogul ski company founded by an Olympic medalist. The skis are constructed with European polar and ash, have a IS7200 Sintered base and “Bombproof CK” (carbon and kevlar) from tip to tail to create a durable ski. Each Shaman Ski model number is unique to the postal code of the most famous Finnish mogul skiers of Finland.

“As a newer ski company, we have had the opportunity to design skis from the bottom up,” said Mustonen. “With the industry trending to shorten mogul skis, we believe we have found the perfect balance of stability and overall agility. Our unique “mustache” shape camber gives athletes more balance when jumping, and we placed the heaviest and strongest materials under the boot to reduce swing weight.”

Distributed by current U.S. Ski Team supplier Zipline Ski, the partnership with Shaman has created a company devoted to and run by those with World Cup and Olympic mogul skiing careers. This season, national team athlete Ryan Dyer will compete with the Shaman 98100 skis as well as Zipline 14.0. Kevlar Graphite poles and goggles. Additionally, Shaman does not make race stock skis, so all customers can buy the same exact skis as Olympic and World Cup skiers.

“The Shaman Ski Company has done an amazing job designing and manufacturing a world class mogul ski,” said Matt Gnoza, U.S. Freestyle Ski Team head mogul coach. “The ski allows athletes to enhance their skills while holding up to the rigors of the sport and is a solid choice for world class and aspiring mogul skiers.”
