Season Best Super G for Ligety
SCHLADMING, Austria (March 15) – Ted Ligety (Park City, UT) hurdled to 10th from the 26th start position to post his best Audi FIS Alpine World Cup super G result of the season in spring-like Schladming. Italy's Christof Innerhofer won the day's race, but Aksel Lund Svindal of Norway claimed the discipline title with a 16th place finish. The overall World Cup title chase took an interesting twist when Austrian Marcel Hirscher finished third to edge closer to leader Beat Feuz who crashed out mid course.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Ted Ligety (Park City, UT) was 10th in the World Cup Finals super G for his best finish in the discipline this season.
- Ligety, starting from the final bib number in 26th, made the strongest move of the day as high temperatures softened the course.
- Norwegian Aksel Lund Svindal won the super G title with a 16th place as Italian Christoph Innerhofer won the race.
- Austrian Marcel Hirscher was third to move within 75 points of Swiss Beat Feuz in the overall chase as Feuz crashed out of the race.
- Ligety currently stands ninth in the overall standings with giant slalom and slalom remaining.
- Ligety is mathematically in the running for a fourth giant slalom title with a 92 point deficit to Hirscher.
- The nations team event is scheduled for Friday with Julia Mancuso (Squaw Valley, CA), Resi Stiegler (Jackson Hole, WY), Nolan Kasper (Warren, VT) and Tim Jitloff (Reno, NV) competing for the U.S.

I think I am definitely moving in the right direction super G wise and I am starting to figure out some ski stuff. With new skis for next year it could help me or it could hurt me, we will see.
The hill is really good. I think it’s a cool hill but the warm weather conditions are definitely pretty difficult right now but, that is how it goes. There is definitely a big disadvantage running later but I am kind happy with how it went today.
It’s pretty easy for me in the sense that there is only one option for the giant slalom; I have to win and (Marcel) Hirscher has to go out. You never know what is going to happen with the pressure of the last race of the year with the overall in his sights so we will see how it goes.
