Park City to Celebrate Ted Ligety

PARK CITY, UT (April 1) – Park City Mountain Resort will welcome home World Champion and four-time Audi FIS Alpine World Cup giant slalom champion Ted Ligety (Park City, UT) on Saturday, April 6 with a free public celebration beginning at 1 p.m. MT at the resort plaza. Ligety returns to his hometown after a record setting winter that included a historic three gold medals at the 2013 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, six World Cup wins for a fourth giant slalom title and his best ever finish in the overall World Cup standings with third. The event will feature a skiing parade, video salute to Ligety, an autograph session and live music.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Park City Mountain Resort will host a welcome home celebration for World Champion Ted Ligety (Park City, UT) on Saturday, April 6 in resort plaza.
  • The free public event will feature a skiing parade, video tribute to Ligety, an autograph session and live music by U.S. Ski Team alum and musician Bryon Friedman.
  • In February Ligety won three gold medals at the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships to become the first man since Jean Claude Killy 45 years ago in 1968 to win three or more gold in one World Championships.
  • Ligety capped a record World Cup season with a sixth giant slalom victory and his fourth World Cup giant slalom title. Many of his wins were by historic margins.
  • The sixth win links him to great Ingemar Stenmark as the only man to have six GS wins in a single season.
  • Ligety grew up racing with the Park City Ski Team and is now entering his 10th season on the U.S. Ski Team.

3 p.m. – Live music featuring Bryon Friedman on PayDay Deck at Legacy Lodge
