LENZERHEIDE, Switzerland (March 17) – World Champion Ted Ligety (Park City, UT) wrapped up the best season of his career Sunday with a third overall finish in the Audi FIS World Cup standings. He finished with 1,022 points, beating out his previous best of 898 in 2008. Ligety won six giant slalom races and stood on the podium in all eight of them, which hasn’t been done since Ingemar Stenmark in 1978-79 and Phil Mahre in 1981-82. To top it off, he won a record three gold medals at the World Championships in super G, super combined and giant slalom. Now the action shifts to the Nature Valley U.S. Alpine Championships at Squaw Valley.

QUOTES
Ted Ligety
This year was great. GS was an amazing season. World Championships was amazing. I just have some work to do in slalom and hope that I can maintain my level in super G and move up a little bit there too. Hopefully I can step it up next year and give Hirscher a run for his money. So we’ll see.
