Kostelic Secures Super Combined Title

SOCHI, Russia (Feb. 12) - Bode Miller (Franconia, NH) rocketed to fourth in the downhill half of Sunday's super combined but was bounced out of the slalom as Croatian Ivica Kostelic won to secure the season-long Audi FIS Alpine World Cup super combined title. Swiss Beat Fuez, who won Saturday's downhill, was second to move within 70 points of Kostelic in the overall chase. The race closed the first men's test events held at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games alpine venue.

HIGHLIGHTS

• Bode Miller (Franconia, NH) was fourth in the downhill half of the super combined, but went out in the slalom
• Croatian Ivica Kostelic won the race to secure the season-long World Cup super combined title
• Swiss Beat Fuez was second to move within 70 points of Kostelic in the overall chase
• It was the final combined of the season with Kostelic edging Fuez  336-300 for the title
• The race closed a successful test of the men's alpine venues for the 2014 Olympic Winter Games
• Ted Ligety (Park City, UT) and Will Brandenburg (Spokane, WA) also went out in the slalom
• The men's tour moves to Bansko, Bulgaria for a giant slalom and slalom Feb. 18-19
