Freestyle Junior Worlds Team Named

PARK CITY, UT (March 21) – The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association named a group of 35 talented athletes who are currently competing at the 2013 FIS Freestyle Junior World Championships March 26-31 at Valmalenco, Italy. Headlining the team are U.S. Team members Mac Bohonnon (Madison, CT) in aerials, Ali Kariotis (Tiburon, CA) in moguls, Alexi Micinski (Meridian, ID) and Jess Breda (Marshfield, MA) in slopestyle. Athletes attending hail from USSA club programs as well the U.S. Freeskiing Rookie Team.

  • 2013 FIS Freestyle Junior World Championships take place in Valmalenco, Italy March 26-31, 2013.
  • The event includes moguls, aerials, skicross, halfpipe and slopestyle.
  • Invited athletes must be between the ages of 13 – 19 years old.
  • Headlining the team are U.S. Team members Mac Bohonnon (Madison, CT) in aerials, Ali Kariotis (Tiburon, CA) in moguls, Alexi Micinski (Meridian, ID) and Jess Breda (Marshfield, MA) in slopestyle.
  • U.S. Ski Team member Kariotis is the 2012-13 moguls NorAm Grand Prix champion.
  • Bohonnon earned a fifth place finish last year.
  • Bruce Perry (Winter Park, CO) has earned four top three finishes this season and is the men's NorAm Grand Prix champion.
  • Madeline Riffel (Mammoth Lakes, CA) recently took second at the Sprint U.S. Grand Prix, USANA Skicross and the U.S. Champion title at Canyons Resort.
  • Tyler Wallasch (Acton, CA) took second for the men at the Sprint U.S. Grand Prix, USANA Skicross at Canyons Resort.
  • Watch out for U.S. Freeskiing rookie Alexi Micinski, she took sixth at World Championships and first at the Seven Springs U.S. Revolution Tour.
  • Micinski recently placed third at the Aspen/Snowmass Freeski Open.
  • Broby Leeds (Vail, CO) is on a hot streak after recently taking first in halfpipe at Marriott Junior Championships.
  • Brent Whipple (Stateline, NV) took first at slopestyle Junior Nationals and will be looking to continue his solid skiing.
  • In addition to top three medals, the Marc Hodler Trophy will be awarded for overall team performance.
