Entrepreneur Dave Morin Named Trustee

By U.S. Ski & Snowboard
October, 1 2012

PARK CITY, UT (Oct. 1) – Ski racing has played a major role in the life of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team Foundation’s newest trustee, Dave Morin. U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association President and CEO Bill Marolt announced the appointment of Morin, a former ski racer who is now a rising star in the technology and social networking world.

The Co-Founder and CEO of Path, Morin, 31, becomes the youngest trustee but brings to the board a wealth of career accomplishment. A graduate of the University of Colorado, he began his career at Apple, Inc. learning design and advocating for social networking. He then moved to Facebook where he played a pivotal senior leadership role in the early growth years of the company, notably the development and launch of the Facebook Platform and later Facebook Connect. He left Facebook in 2010 to form a startup, Path – the personal social network that allows users to share life and be closer with close friends and family.

“Dave brings an innovative new aspect to our board,” said Marolt. “His heritage and passion for the sport is infectious and his network of highly successful fellow entrepreneurs who also love skiing and snowboarding will be a great benefit for our athletes in achieving their goals.”

A noted global speaker on technology and social networking, Morin was a featured speaker at this year’s USSA Partner Summit, addressing over 200 of the organizations partners.

“Growing up as a ski racer in Montana, the sport was a major part of my family’s heritage,” said Morin. “Today, as an entreprenuer, skiing and snowboarding are the greatest means of freedom, connection, and shared experience between my family, friends, and colleagues. I look forward to energizing my generation to play a role in supporting the goals of our Olympic athletes.”

As one of his first undertakings as a trustee, Morin is one of the lightning rods behind the new San Francisco Snow Ball to be held Oct. 6 at The Old Mint.

Morin grew up in Montana where he was a USSA Junior Olympic alpine ski racer. He followed the heritage of his grandfather Amos “Bud” Little, a former president of the USSA, who served for decades as a ski official and vice president of the International Ski Federation. He lives in San Francisco with his wife Brit (www.brit.co) and dog Pixel.
