Claire and Margulies Win Final Rev Tour Event

SEVEN SPRINGS, PA (March 18, 2016) – The final stop of the Revolution Tour was a successful one for the American freeskiers, who took podiums in three of the four competitions including wins in women’s halfpipe and slopestyle. Caroline Claire (Wilmington, VT) won women’s slopestyle and Carly Margulies (Mammoth Lakes, CA) was the winner in women’s halfpipe.

 

It was back-to-back wins at Seven Springs for Margulies, who also won the event in 2015. The Mammoth Lakes skier also had a podium finish on her home turf when she finished third at the Mammoth stop of the Rev Tour in January. Jeanee Crane-Mauzy (Park City, UT) finished behind Margulies in second and Cameron Brodrick (Mammoth Lakes, CA) was the top American finisher in men’s halfpipe with a third-place finish. Birk Irving (Winter Park, CO) also made the men’s final, finishing third.

Abigale Hansen (June Lake, CA) was the overall tour winner in halfpipe, though she did not compete in Seven Springs; the 17-year-old took both wins at the double-halfpipe event at Copper Mountain in December. 

 

Claire won her second event on the Revolution Tour and, combined with her win at Winter Park, she was crowned the overall tour champion for women’s slopestyle. Nikita Rubocki (Boise, ID) finished in second at Seven Springs behind Claire, and Kathryn Alexander (Alameda, CA) joined them on the podium in third. Ethan Swadburg (Dillon, CO) was the top finisher for the men in slopestyle with a fourth-place finish. Ben Smith (Silverthorne, CO) was seventh, Aaron Milligan (Avon, CO) eighth, Sasha Johnstone (Jackson Hole, WY) ninth and Kai George (Evergreen, CO) 10th.

Cody Cirillo (Breckenridge, CO) did not compete in Seven Springs, but he still earned the overall men’s slopestyle title with second and fifth-place finishes in Winter Park.

  • Caroine Claire won slopestyle for the women. Her best run scored 89.25
  • Carly Margulies won halfpipe for the women. Her best run scored 86.25
  • Abigale Hansen was the overall Revolution Tour winner in women’s halfpipe.
  • Cody Cirillo was the overall Revolution Tour winner in men’s slopestyle.
  • The U.S. Revolution Tour is the place for top amateur skiers and snowboarders to prove their merit and transition from competing at grassroots to the elite level.
