Athletes/Clubs Pass $1 Million on RallyMe

By U.S. Ski & Snowboard
March, 11 2015

PARK CITY, UT (March 11, 2015) – U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association member athletes and clubs from around the nation have collectively raised more than $1 million for their ski and snowboarding goals through RallyMe.com, the No. 1 online sports funding platform.

The significant $1 million mark was met after a contribution to the Rally campaign of Myles Silverman, 17, a snowboarder from Steamboat Springs, CO, who recently qualified for the FIS Junior World Championships in Yabuli, China. Silverman’s kindergarten teacher was the booster whose contribution pushed USSA past the $1-million milestone using the cutting-edge, cloud-based software.

Last October, USSA launched “USSA Crowdfunding,” the groundbreaking fundraising platform exclusively for its member clubs and athletes. The partnership was designed to help USSA athletes, parents and clubs find support for vital training and travel expenses to help them achieve their athletic dreams.

RallyMe has provided support for over 240 USSA athletes, including alpine skiers Paula Moltzan and AJ Ginnis, who won gold and bronze medals this week at the FIS Alpine Junior World Championships in Norway. Both Moltzan and Ginnis have each raised over $20,000 on the platform.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The USSA, in partnership with RallyMe, announced that member athletes and clubs from around the nation have collectively raised more than $1-million for their ski and snowboarding goals.
  • The USSA and RallyMe partnered in 2013 to help USSA members with a tool to find additional support for vital training and travel expenses. All funds collected go directly to the athlete or club.
  • Because of the initial success and USSA’s desire to provide a state-of-the-art program for its athletes in need of additional funds, the two entities launched a groundbreaking platform in October 2014 exclusively for USSA athletes and clubs, found at USSA.RallyMe.com.
  • In all, more than 240 athletes and clubs have raised the $1million from over 4,800 separate contributions. USSA.RallyMe.com is designed to help athletes and parents from grassroots USSA clubs up through the national team ranks.
  • Myles Silverman is a 17-year-old alpine snowboarder from Steamboat Springs, Colo. whose fundraising campaign to help pay for travel expenses to the FIS Junior World Championships in March was the Rally that garnered the contribution to push USSA athletes/clubs past the $1-million mark. He nearly gave up the sport last season after suffering a concussion during training. Thanks to his coach and supporters, including those who have contributed to his campaign, he fought back this season to earn a spot on the Junior Worlds team.

QUOTES

Luke Bodensteiner, Executive Vice President, Athletics, USSA
Our partnership with RallyMe has exceeded our expectations. The uptake by USSA athletes at both the elite team and club level has been substantial, and the funds that have been raised have been vital to our athletes, and to our success as a team.  The support provided by RallyMe has created a true partnership between USSA, its athletes, and the Boosters who have supported the athletes and our mission.

Bill Kerig, CEO and Founder, RallyMe
Since the entire RallyMe staff skis or snowboards, it is especially gratifying to see USSA reach the $1 million milestone. We, as well as all the skiers and snowboarders who've used the platform, have USSA's forward-thinking leadership to thank for embracing this empowering technology.

Myles Silverman, 17, Steamboat Springs, alpine snowboarder
My Rally campaign really shows me how much people believe in me and how far it has come. Snowboarding and racing has been a dream since I was a little kid. The financial support I have received is amazing and I really appreciate it. And for them to have my back and rooting for me and believing in me through this online community, definitely helps me reach my goals.
