Athlete Spotlight: Keri Herman
Keri Herman grew up with a passion for competition. For the Minnesota native, that originally meant playing competitive ice hockey all the way through high school. After a move to the University of Denver, Herman shifted that passion into skiing and turned it into a career, taking the slopestyle scene by storm. In 2010, she made a grand entrance with a silver double dip, taking second in the Winter X Games slopestyle and then again at Euro X. Herman proved 2010 wasn’t a fluke when she stomped a silver medal run at Winter X 2011, earned bronze at the inaugural women's slopestyle event at World Champs and took second overall in the AFP rankings. This season, she claimed the World Cup title in slopestyle skiing.

How/when did you decide you wanted to compete: To make a long story short, I learned to freeski when I was 21. Someone thought I as pretty good and told me they'd pay for my travel and contest entry fee if I competed in the Aspen Open back in 2006 or 2007. I won! I was completely shocked. From there, I continued to compete!
Biggest accomplishment in your career so far: Winning the crystal globe for slopestyle skiing this year!
Goals for next season: Gold at the Olympic Winter Games
Favorite snow destination: Breckenridge, CO
Favorite non-snow destination: Gull Lake, Minnesota - in the summer of course!
Favorite food: I love all food! Sushi, cheesecake, tikka masala, hot dogs, mac 'n cheese, steak...
If you weren't a professional athlete what would you be: A financial analyst on Wall Street. I graduated from the University of Denver in 2005 with a B.S./B.A. in finance and marketing.
Time you've been most scared in your life: I try to scare myself at least once a day. The most scared? Hmmm...probably having to give presentations in front of the class in school.
