Americans Sweep Rev Tour Slopestyle Podium

WINTER PARK, CO (March 2, 2016) – The Revolution Tour continued this week with a stop at Winter Park Resort, where some of the world’s best up-and-coming freeskiers competed in back-to-back slopestyle contests. Americans Nadia Gonzales (Keystone, CO) and Caroline Claire (Willmington, VT) each picked up a win for the women, while Aaron Milligan (Avon, CO) and Cody Cirillo (Breckenridge, CO) both took wins for the men.

At the first slopestyle competition on Tuesday, the Americans swept both men’s and women’s podiums: Marin Hamill (Park City, UT) was second for the women while Claire was third and Ryan Mcelmon (Park City, UT) was second for the men while Hunter Hess (Bend, OR) was third. Claire has been on a roll in 2016, as she also won the Mammoth Mountain slopestyle event in January. “It feels pretty good,” Claire said of her Colorado win. “There were speed issues in the beginning of the day but by the end of the day the sun came out and it was pretty good.”

The Americans also dominated at the second slopestyle event on Thursday, taking five of the six podium spots: Taylor Lundquist (Park City, UT) was second for the women while Hamill was third and Levi Ascher (Vail, CO) was second for the men.  

Other top American finishers at the first slopestyle: Kathryn Alexander (Alameda, CA), fourth; Quinn Wolferman (Missoula, MT), fourth; Ashton Glass (Park City, UT), fifth; Cody Cirillo (Breckenridge, CO), fifth; Rell Harwood (Park City, UT), sixth; Nikita Rubocki (Boise, ID), seventh; Dylan Sondrup (Park City, UT), seventh; Taylor Lundquist (Park City, UT), eighth; Grace Henderson (Waterville Valley, NH), ninth; Carson Lehouillier (Lake Tahoe, CA), ninth; Fred Bridweser (Canton, OH), 10th.

Asher Levi, Cody Cirillo and New Zealand’s Nico Porteous were top three in the second slopestyle.

Other top American finishers at the second slopestyle: Kathryn Alexander (Alameda, CA), fourth; Nikita Rubocki (Boise, ID), fifth; Andy Partridge (Park City, UT), fifth; Ashton Glass (Park City, UT), sixth; Carson Lehouillier (Lake Tahoe, CA), sixth; Grace Henderson (Waterville Valley, NH), seventh; Hunter Hess (Bend, OR), seventh; Rell Harwood (Park City, UT), eighth; Alexander Breda (Waterville Valley, NH), eighth; Nadia Gonzales (Keystone, CO), ninth; Ryan Mcelmon (Park City, UT), ninth; Jacob Prichard (Lake Placid, NY), 10th.

Next up for the Revolution Tour the freeskiers will compete in halfpipe and slopestyle events at Seven Springs, PA March 16-18.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Nadia Gonzales won the first slopestyle for the women. Her best run scored 87.75: Blind 270, right 360 tail, backflip, frontside 270, switch left 540, left corked 720
  • Aaron Milligan won the first slopestyle for the men. His best run scored 86.25.
  • Caroline Claire won the second slopestyle for the women. Her best run scored 91.25.
  • Cody Cirillo won the second slopestyle for the men. His best run scored 92.00.
  • The U.S. Revolution Tour is the place for top amateur skiers and snowboarders to prove their merit and transition from competing at grassroots to the elite level.
