QUOTES

Joe Swensson

The race was really fun today and the weather was perfect. I had an interesting first heat:  One of the Canadians barged and somersaulted out of the gate before it opened. The gate then dropped, and I was able to get out in front for most of the course. One guy went down midway through so it was myself (and two others). I thought I was going to advance no problem but then over-shot a butter box and hit the fences. I scrambled back into the course and finished in third. Luckily the Canadian was disqualified, so I lucked out and made it through.

In the quarterfinals, I had last gate choice and was far left. I got pushed out and ended up fourth out of the start. Halfway down I was able to pass into third but couldn’t close the gap at the finish. The course held up great, and it was definitely the most fun course I’ve ever skied.
