Sigourney Third at Dew Tour

By U.S. Ski & Snowboard
December, 11 2015

Breckenridge, CO (Dec. 11, 2015) — American skier Brita Sigourney (Carmel, CA) hit the podium at the first major freeskiing contest of the season, the Dew Tour Breckenridge. Sigourney took third in the superpipe competition with a run that included a leftside 900 and an alley oop 540. Teammate Annalisa Drew (Andover, MA) was the top seed, but wasn’t able to lay down a run in the final and finished sixth.

There was fresh snow on the ground in Breckenridge this morning, making the superpipe a little slow to start. “I had a couple of nerves on the first run and my skis were waxed up after practice,” Sigourney said regarding her fall in the first run. “It was sprinkling snow this morning and it put a layer of Velcro in the pipe, but the wax definitely helped before finals. This is the most nerve-wracking contest of the year because it’s so early. Now I’m excited to have some time off and get some training in to work on another run for X Games.”

Japan’s Ayana Ozuko took the win and Canadian Cassie Sharp was second.
