BIO

Zanden joins the U.S. Cross Country Team B-team for the 2023-24 season. In the first World Cup of the 2023-24 season, Zanden landed his career-best World Cup result in 28th place for the 20k mass start and bested that just weeks later landing a 23th place in Canmore, Alberta. At the 2023 SuperTour in Cable, WI., Zanden brought home two second-place results, and at the 2023 U23 World Ski Championships, Zanden was in the top-20 in both the 20k classic and 10k skate.

An athlete on the Alaska Pacific University (APU) team, Alaskan Zanden McMullen is a skier to watch as we look at the future of the Stifel U.S. Cross Country Ski Team. His goals for the season include securing the World Cup green bib (or hold at least once); teammate Ben Ogden won the U23 Green Bib during the 2022-23 season. Zanden also is looking to qualify for multiple World Cup sprints and race the whole season on World Cup. As he looks towards his long-term goals, he wants to become the most decorated male cross country skier ever.

Aside from skiing, Zanden says he is "a cat person first and foremost (but love all animals)." He claims to have a serious sweet tooth with a true chocolate addiction. He never takes himself too seriously and loves a good laugh.

"It’s a good life"
